Do I need a referral from a doctor?
Often not. Georgia law lets you see a physical therapist directly in many situations. Dry needling is the exception: it always requires a doctor’s order.

What happens during the free phone consult?
On a short call, Corey will ask what’s going on, what you’ve tried and what you want to get back to, then give you an honest opinion on whether physical therapy is a good fit.
Is this the same as home health?
No. Home health physical therapy is usually arranged through a doctor and an agency for people who are homebound. Empathy Physical Therapy is a private practice: you don’t need to be homebound, you can contact us directly, and every visit is one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist.
Which areas do you serve?
Sandy Springs, East Cobb, Marietta, Dunwoody, Buckhead, Vinings, Smyrna and nearby. See the full service area.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5 PM.
Do you take insurance?
No. Empathy Physical Therapy is a private-pay practice and doesn’t bill insurance, which keeps your care focused on your goals rather than insurance rules. See rates.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
In many cases, yes. Physical therapy is often an eligible expense. Check with your plan administrator to confirm.
What do I need at home?
Just a little open floor space and comfortable clothes. We bring a portable table and the equipment needed.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on your goals and your condition. After your evaluation, you’ll get a clear recommendation, and the plan adjusts as you progress.
Can a family member be there?
Absolutely. Family members and caregivers are welcome, and it often helps.
Will you work with my doctor or surgeon?
Yes. With your permission, we share updates with your physician and follow any protocols they’ve set.
